My name is Kelly, I’m the mother of two beautiful girls, Kaitlin (16) and Kelsey (13). I founded “Wear It Again Kids… and Family Too!” in June 2008 after many years of looking for “the perfect job” while in my heart knowing that my dream was to own my own store. In 2008 I decided to ignore the odds and the naysayers and go for it!
I wanted to own a children’s consignment/resale store because when my oldest daughter was a baby I was a stay-at-home mom. My husband, Kevin, and I struggled to make ends meet, but we also knew we did not want anyone else raising our kids. To stretch our budget, I frequented many garage sales and I would say that 70-90% of our daughters’ clothing and toys were second-hand. I would also shop at one of the local consignment shops but always felt they were a little overpriced. Whenever I would go into that consignment store, I would say to myself, “Wouldn’t it be great to be able to own a store like this?” I had so many ideas and dreams about it!
My vision was to be able to have a family-friendly, cheerful store where people could find great bargains on clothes and toys for the whole family. My goal was not just to make a living for my family, but to help others be able to keep more of their hard earned paychecks too.
Now this store is a reality! The five years of blood, sweat, tears, and sacrifices from my husband, kids and myself are well worth it every day I open my doors. The steep learning curve lead to the store outgrowing its’ first three locations; we now have a very large space that feels like home.
I’m grateful to have made the acquaintance of hundreds of wonderful people in the area! I’ve found some VERY good friends along the way as well – people that started as customers, whom I now think of as family. They also helped me relocate my store and I will always be thankful to them.
I hope to continue helping families stretch their budgets and support our local community with fundraisers, giving back to the community we call our home.
